The girl King is based on a real historical figure: Kristina von Sweden lived from 1626 to 1689. As the only survivor (legitimate) child of Gustav II Adolph von Sweden and his wife Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg was she at the age of six to the heir to the throne of her father, after he fell in the battle of Lützen. In the tradition, Kristina is described as intelligent, but capricious. She rejected the traditional role of a woman, dressed very male, and has decided not to marry.
In 1645, she ended the 30-year war. in 1654, she abdicated at the age of 28 in favour of their personal freedom, converted to the Roman Catholic faith, henceforth called himself Christina Alexandra and became the leader of a group of baroque artists. Anti-also had audiences with a total of five popes and was buried after her death in 1689 (age 62) in the Vatican.
In 1933, the movie Queen Christine is dealt with the fate of the Queen from the girl King. In it, the monarch was played by Greta Garbo. In 1974, she was played by Liv Ullmann in the abdication.
